Preston County Senior Citizens, Inc. offers a wide range of valuable community-based services. Our programs are designed to provide older individuals and vulnerable populations in our communities with the assistance needed to live with dignity and independence. From employment assistance, transportation, and free mobility equipment rentals to providing help with understanding complicated Medicare issues and much more, we’re here to make life a little easier for older residents in Preston County.

SHIP Counseling

Provides help with understanding Medicare and other health insurance coverage, bills, claims, and plan options

Senior Employment Program

Training, skill development, and employment opportunities for lower-income individuals age 55+

Medical Equipment Loan Closet

Free medical equipment rentals (wheelchairs, canes, walkers, and bedside toilets)

Medical Escort

Door-to-door assistance from home to medical appointments (and back) for those with hearing, vision, mobility, and functional difficulties

Community Resource Referrals & Assistance

Our staff and volunteers are a great resource for a variety of issues that may affect your lifestyle. They can help you obtain information regarding a wide range of available resources in the community. Referrals can be made on your behalf, as well.

LIEAP

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) helps bring down the winter heating costs of eligible individuals. We can help you complete and submit your application to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services for assistance through this and other available programs in Preston County.

Health Screenings

Health screening clinics are held monthly at your local senior center’s Senior Club meetings. Homebound seniors and disabled individuals can receive health assessments as well. Appropriate service referrals for in-home care and community services are made available to those who may benefit from these programs.

Farmers Market Coupons

These vouchers are distributed to eligible individuals aged 60 and older.

Support for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Conditions

Alzheimer’s disease can be devastating for both the patient and caregiver. Our trained personnel can provide you with information and resources to help ease the burdens associated with caring for an individual with Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, and related conditions. We also have training modules and educational programs available on a variety of topics related to these conditions, including information on health, home safety, legislation, social support services, and public benefits.
