Preston County Senior Citizens, Inc. offers a variety of useful programs designed to help those with physical and/or mental impairments live life to its fullest in the comfort of home. These programs are designed to promote the highest possible level of comfort and independence for program participants. Our services are personalized to meet the needs of each individual. Assistance can include a wide variety of medical and/or personal care tasks according to need.

Personal Care Services

Personal Care Services are medically-oriented activities or tasks. They are ordered by a physician and provided according to a nursing plan of care. Individuals may benefit from personal care services when assistance is required with activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, or transferring in and out of bed. These services are provided in the home. Individuals receiving personal care services are able to be treated by a physician as an outpatient rather than in an institution. Our personal care services are provided by trained personnel who are supervised by a registered nurse.

Homemaker Services (Personal Care Services +)

Homemaker services are medically-oriented activities necessary to the long-term maintenance of health and safety. They are ordered by a physician and provided according to a nursing plan of care. Individuals may benefit from homemaker services when assistance is required with bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, and other activities. Homemaker services include personal care services, as well as meal preparation, shopping for personal items, medication management, money management, and light housework. Homemaker services enable individuals to be treated by their physician as an outpatient rather than in an institution. Homemaker services are provided by trained personnel who are supervised by a registered nurse.

Program Eligibility — Personal Care and Homemaker Services

Individuals who require assistance with personal care tasks (bathing, eating, hygiene, etc.) and who are eligible for Medicaid may be eligible for our Personal Care or Homemaker Services.
